South Africa to sell sustainable toothbrush

One of South Africa’s specialist health and beauty distributors, ACDOCO SA, has revealed that it will soon be launching an award-winning sustainable toothbrush. The Green Clean toothbrush will be branded under Jordan Dental Care, a Norweigian company that has been operating in the dental industry since 1927. The company says that 90% of the toothbrush and its packaging is made from recycled materials, which minimises the use of raw materials and gives waste materials a new life. The launch of the Jordan Oral Care Green Clean toothbrush aligns with the company’s mandate of ‘Sustainability Without Compromise’.

Green Clean toothbrush is ergonomic

The sustainable product looks simple and functional - it does not have the rubber bristles, criss-cross patterns or split-head designs often seen on modern toothbrushes. The Green Clean brush combines functionality with sustainable materials.The recycled materials used to make the toothbrush are carefully chosen according to their recycling and sustainability credentials. The handle is made from 100% recycled plastic that comes from food containers such as yoghurt cups. The bristles are made from bio-based nylon, originating from castor oil plants. The packaging box is made from recycled paper fibres and the label is made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified paper, which comes from sustainably-managed forests.

Sustainability is the main focus of the design

Green Clean is designed with the environment in mind, allowing users to clean their teeth and their conscience at the same time. “Scandinavian design is as much about aesthetics as it is about functionality. To me, sustainability is also a big part of it,” says the designer of the Green Clean brush, Andreas Engesvik.The Jordan Green Clean toothbrush range will soon be available in leading supermarkets across South Africa. The toothbrushes will come in a range of pastel colours and neutral tones. There will also be children’s brushes on sale.
